Here is the action plan for AFERM from 2024-2034
1. CONDUCT A NEEDS ASSESSMENT
In the first year of our action plan, AFERM will conduct a needs assessment to identify the most suitable areas for tree planting and the needs and priorities of the local communities. This will involve mapping potential areas for afforestation and consulting with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to determine the types of trees that are most appropriate for the local ecosystem.
2. DEVELOP PARTNERSHIPS
In 2024 AFERM will establish partnerships with government agencies, local communities, and private sector organizations to support the afforestation project. This will involve identifying potential partners, building relationships, and securing funding and other resources to support the project.
3. DEVELOP A DETAILED PLAN
In 2025 AFERM will develop a detailed plan for the afforestation project. This plan will include a timeline for the project, the budget, the types of trees to be planted, the method of planting, and the monitoring and evaluation framework.
4. RAISE AWARENESS
In 2026 AFERM will launch a public awareness campaign to promote the importance of afforestation and engage local communities in the project. This will involve organizing community meetings, workshops, and other events to educate people about the benefits of afforestation and involve them in the planning and implementation of the projects.
5. IMPLEMENT THE PROJECT
In 2027 AFERM will begin implementing the afforestation project. This will involve establishing tree nurseries, planting trees, and monitoring the growth and survival of the trees. AFERM will also involve local communities in the planting and maintenance of the trees.
6. MONITOR AND EVALUATE
Throughout the project, AFERM will monitor, tracking the survival rate of trees, measuring the carbon sequestration capacity of the trees, and assessing the impact on local biodiversity. AFERM will also evaluate the effectiveness of the project in achieving its goals and identify areas for improvement.
7. EXPAND THE PROJECT
In the final years of our action plan, AFERM will look to expand the afforestation project to other areas and involve more local communities in the project. This may involve seeking additional funding and partnerships to support the expansion of the project
8. SUSTAINABILITY AND HANDOVER
By the end of every project, the AFERM will have established sustainable practices and built local capacity for continued afforestation and maintenance of the trees. AFERM will then hand over the projects to the local communities and government agencies for long-term sustainability.
